· Getting started
How much should I do each day?
Less than you think, more often than you'd like. Fifteen minutes daily beats two hours on a Sunday — spaced repetition works because of the gaps between sessions, not the length of them.
Do I have to follow the course order?
No. The course is a suggested path, not a gate. If you already know the basics, jump ahead and let the review system find the holes.
Can I learn more than one language at once?
You can, and you can switch your active language at any time from your settings. Be honest with yourself though — two languages usually means half the progress in each.
· Reviews & streaks
Why did a word I know keep coming back?
Because you answered it correctly but slowly, or got it wrong recently. The scheduler weights recent performance heavily. It settles down after two or three confident answers.
Why did my review pile get so big?
Reviews accumulate while you're away — that's the system doing its job, not punishing you. Work through them at whatever pace you can; the pile shrinks faster than it grew.
I lost my streak unfairly.
Streaks roll over at midnight in your account timezone, which may not be the one you're currently sitting in. Check your timezone in settings. Streak freezes protect you for days you genuinely can't practise.
Streaks are a tool, not a score
If protecting a streak is the only reason you're opening the app, let it go and come back tomorrow. The vocabulary is what matters.
· Communities
Why can't I post in a community?
You need to join it first. Anyone signed in can read any community, but posting, commenting, and voting require membership — it keeps drive-by noise out.
Can I join communities for languages I'm not learning?
Yes. Your feed shows posts from every community you've joined, regardless of which language is currently active on your account.
Someone corrected me rudely.
Report it. Our Community Rules are explicit that corrections address the sentence, not the person, and we enforce that.
How do corrections work?
Use the correction tool rather than a plain reply — it produces a readable diff of what changed, and the author earns XP for receiving it. Correcting others earns XP too.
· Account & billing
What do I get on the free plan?
The core loop — courses, reviews, flashcards, and full community access — is free and stays free. Paid plans add the AI-powered features that cost us money to run per use.
How do I cancel?
From your billing settings, any time. You keep paid access until the end of the period you've already paid for, and nothing you've learned is taken away when it ends.
Can I get my data out?
Yes — you can request an export of your account data, and deletion, from your settings. See the Privacy Policy for what's included.
· Troubleshooting
Audio won't play
Most often a browser autoplay restriction. Interact with the page once (tap anywhere), check the tab isn't muted, and confirm your device isn't in silent mode.
The microphone isn't picking me up
Speaking exercises need microphone permission for the site. If you dismissed the prompt, re-enable it in your browser's site settings and reload. Some browsers block microphone access entirely on insecure connections.
My progress didn't save
Progress saves as you finish each exercise, so a dropped connection mid-session can lose the current item but not the session. If a whole session vanished, tell us — that's a bug, not expected behaviour.
· Still stuck?
If none of the above covers it, get in touch. Include what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead — it saves a round trip.
